Charts of different scales and projections can be loaded side by side making it an ideal application for planning. ARCS for GIS is a popular application for organisations such as ASA and Cordah (part of the BMT Group) who are involved in coastal zone management and environmental consultancy.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the government departments of

other European nations use ARCS for GIS to monitor fishing zones and dumping at sea. The British, Dutch and Namibian Governments use the software to assist them in the tracking of fishing fleets. ARCS for GIS is used by The Irish Sea Fisheries Board for plotting the locations of licenced fish farms.
