We have built our data knowledge primarily through the application and use of spatial data. Spatial data typically includes map background data (e.g. Ordnance Survey maps) with a company's asset data layered on top. A company's asset data may include; line information (e.g. routing of services such as telecom cables, power lines or water or gas pipes), point information (e.g. the location of a customer), region information (e.g. the boundary of the area covered by a sales team). A Geographic Information System (GIS) is used to maintain, display and manipulate this spatial data
We can help in the collation and organisation of that information.
We can provide management, tools and processes to assist with defining, capturing and loading this data into a GIS.
Having got this data, it needs to be maintained. For example, if the background maps change – due to resurvey perhaps - then the data that was shown against the original map may have to be re-aligned to the new map.

The data itself is an important asset for a company. Having collected the data it often becomes evident that the data can be used in ways which was not at first obvious. For instance, the data may have been collected to allow the company to plan for additions to their network (some new routes for power lines perhaps) but because they have data which includes geographic information – for example, the length of a power line – this can then be used to calculate a value for that network based on cable lengths.

Data and systems never stand still. We have found that there are often drivers to move the data from one system to another. This may happen, for example, where companies who maintain different systems for their spatial data merge and there is a requirement to standardise.
