Who we are
Intelliscan was founded in 1994 by a group of geospatial software engineers that recognised the significant value that data, and the systems used to store and analyse this data, could bring to business.
We provide a vast bank of knowledge and experience to offer an all encompassing, quality, service. This ensures that you, as a customer, reap the maximum benefits from your data and systems through utilising a combination of our skilled consultants, analysts and developers that will work with you and your requirements to help achieve your business objectives.
We have a wide ranging skill set including PRINCE 2 qualified Project Managers, fully qualified Software Developers and Experienced Data Consultants.
We have worked with over 200 companies in a myriad of market sectors - from utilities, local and central government, oil and gas, to many spheres of the marine industry. Our involvement with these customers has been on a short term or long term basis depending on the requirements of the project. Our longest running involvement with a single project is now in its 9th year. This is a project with a UK Telecomms provider who are migrating all their raster based records to a vector format and loading these into a new corporate GIS.
Re-alignment
We have supplied software tools and expertise to allow a number of utility companies to re-align the network in their GIS to a newer land base (e.g. Ordnance Survey NTF or Mastermap data). In some cases this was to correct for mis-alignment introduced at the data capture stage or to re-align data captured against an old land base (such as Ordnance Survey county series maps) to a newer land base. In other cases it was to take account of the shifts introduced by the Ordnance Surveys re-surveying program. To best ensure quality, we tend to favour a manual or semi-automatic approach to re-alignment.
Data Extraction
We have provided software tools and expertise to extract data from a GIS, along with appropriate geo-referencing information, to allow it to be imported into other systems such as a field system or a different GIS. Wherever we can, we employ metrics checks and data spot checks to ensure the quality and the completeness of the data we extract.
Data Manipulation
We have provided software tools and expertise to take geographic data from one system, turn that into a schematic layout and then load that into a control room system. Again we have found metrics checks along with visual data checks to be the best way to ensure quality.
Data Capture
Data capture is typically where the information written on paper or raster diagrams is converted to a vector format. We have provided software tools and expertise to assist in data capture. This has included the definition of capture rules along with the definition of data integrity checks and cleansing rules to ensure quality and completeness.
Working with Offshore Resource
Large data capture, data migration or data manipulation often require that portions of the work be carried out offshore (i.e. India, china etc). Our experience has shown us that, for the benefit of all involved, the requirements have to be well defined and understood by all sides. We have been involved in all aspects of this; be it requirements writing, managing the work flow or testing the results, all of which are required to ensure the delivery of quality data or products.
