Intelliscan was founded in 1994 to fulfil
opportunities that existed in the Computer Aided Design [CAD]
and Geographic Information Systems [GIS] markets for software
aided data capture and data cleansing. Whilst this potential
enabled the company to make some early headway, it became
clear that larger opportunities existed within the data/system
management sector.
Focusing on utility and telecoms customers, Intelliscan has - over the past ten years - worked with many of the UK's electricity, water and telecoms companies, assisting them to make more effective use of their data and systems through management and integration software and services.
Since 1998, the company has also serviced the maritime and defence sector through the development of software enabling the integration of common GIS products with maritime data sets such as the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office's ARCS worldwide charts dataset. This product range has been sold to several hundred companies in over 20 countries.
At the start of 2005, the company established a new division to develop and deploy services based on the innovative digital pen and paper technology.
Initially a subsidiary of a larger Aberdeen-based company, the directors completed a management buy out in 1998. The company is privately held with all shareholders working for the company. In addition, the company operates an Inland Revenue approved EMI Share Option Scheme.
