Coming Soon - ARCS for
GIS - New Version 1.8
A new version of ARCS for
GIS is due for release which will see some of the following
improvements introduced; the addition of a complimentary 'light'
viewer program, compatibility with the Geographic Information
System (GIS) Geomedia Version 5 as well as improved compatibility
with Mapinfo 7 and ArcGIS 8.3. Performance enhancements will
show marked improvement of efficiency and will enable the
user the ability to create an emailable error report in the
unlikely event of an error occurring!! ARCS
for GIS software is widely used for planning, monitoring and
analysis in the marine industry as it decrypts digital (raster)
chart data making it available for use within many popular
desktop GIS.

Attention all Customers
- Canadian Charts now in ARCS Intelliscan, as Admiralty
Raster Charts Service (ARCS) distributors, are now able to
offer Canadian charts as part of the ARCS folio. ARCS, produced
by the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), are the digital equivalent
of paper charts. The addition of the Canadian charts has transpired
following successful long-term discussions between the UKHO
and the Nautical Data Inc of Canada. The Canadian charts coupled
with the recently announced addition of Brazilian charts to
the ARCS folio, means that the ARCS availability is near to
complete worldwide coverage. Customers with a licence to RC3
and RC9 (or a complete world folio) will receive these additional
charts free of charge.

with Finnish Company Novo, launch Buychart.com.
Novo, one of the largest
IT companies in the Nordic countries, and Intelliscan have

Brand New Software Release - NZ Mariner
for GIS
...a must for Marine
businesses that have a requirement for rich marine data for
the waters in and around New Zealand.
The NZMariner for GIS software, developed
by Intelliscan, is largely based on their ARCS for GIS software,
a proven technology widely used for planning, monitoring and
analysis in the marine industry. Both software packages decrypt
digital (raster) chart data making it available for use within
many popular desktop Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The ARCS software differs in that it is compatible for use
with the Admiralty Raster Charts Service (ARCS), produced
by the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), whereas the New Zealand
charts are produced by Land Information New Zealand, for which
this software has specifically been designed.

of new Project Manager
Intelliscan today announced
the appointment of Dr Alex MacDonald as Project Manager within
the Technical Consultancy division. Dr MacDonald brings expansive
experience in database administration and management, in both
the utilities industry and with local authorities. In addition
to this he has a firm scientific grounding within environmental
and marine markets endorsed through an impressive array of
published papers and presentations. The skills that Dr MacDonald
possess is ideally suited to Intelliscan's customer base which
is primarily focused within the maritime and utilities sectors.
The appointment will allow Intelliscan to

join forces to provide a wider service offering. Intelliscan,
specialists in software development for geographic information
systems (GIS) and Metoc, providers of project management and
consultancy services to many leading companies round the world,
jointly announced that they have entered into a collaboration
agreement. The agreement will primarily allow Intelliscan
to distribute the vectorised Admiralty data produced by Metoc,
but also permits cross promoting and distribution of their

Intelliscan hit the headlines
with their move to new offices.
Intelliscan, as the first tenant at the new purpose-built
Business Centre in Oldmeldrum, has been creating a lot of
local media interest. The Business Park is a further demonstration
of the rapid expansion of Oldmeldrum and like Oldmeldrum,
Intelliscan has also been steadily expanding over recent years.
The additional space provided by the new offices, good road
links and easy access to Aberdeen Airport played a significant

Intelliscan maintain their Investor in
People recognition. Rapid expansion
and a healthy increase in Intelliscan's staff over the previous
year instigated a review of the company's accreditation. The
review was to ensure that these changes had not had a detrimental
impact on their current practices and that they were continuing
to maintain the high standard synonymous with that of the
national standard of Investors in People (IIP).
The IIP report concluded that Intelliscan
still continues to "develop and maintain a motivated,
committed and well-trained team" and that this "strong
team ethos is a key element in its continuing success. This

SwERVE version
4.1 released today! 4.1 introduces several new features,
including exporting data in XML and ESRI Shapefile formats
and the extraction of raster metadata. These and other improvements
are designed to provide the user with an intuitive and easy-to-use
link between their proprietary GIS data and a desktop GIS.
Enhancements over previous versions also make the suite of
tools in SwERVE 4.1 easier and faster to use. See
