The Problem

The requirement to manage extensive volumes of environmental information whilst taking into account valuable chart information such as bathymetric characteristics, proximity to shipping lanes and so on for the planning and developing of offshore wind farms.

The Solution

Energi E2 uses the ARCS for GIS software as part of their planning and development of offshore wind farms. In the development of an offshore wind farm extensive environmental information is collected. This information can be more easily managed with the charting background that ARCS for GIS provides allowing them to refine the project site taking into account bathymetric characteristics, proximity to shipping lanes and so on that the charts provide. The data can be managed in layers which makes it easy to switch on and off the different layers and produce project presentations.
