Emergency Services / Public Sector.
The Problem
Legislative changes were made in an effort to decentralise emergency services. It was believed that this would increased the flexibility of the services through a locally determined risk managed approach. The anticipated result of this was a move toward a coordinated effort with other agencies, the public, as well as internally, to obtain maximum benefit. The legislation thus pushed for an evaluation of what systems were used and what data was being recorded, used and stored by the agencies and the potential ease (or not) of increasing the integration to achieve a more coordinated effort.
The Solution - Data and Systems Consultancy
Due to their data and GIS experience Intelliscan was commissioned to carry out a data and systems audit. An Intelliscan consultant spent a month on their premises carrying out a detailed analysis based on the audit brief.
From this analysis, report and recommendation documents were submitted. For instance, the audit enabled a 'gap analysis' of the data and systems to be carried out - by identifying what data and systems were available compared to what data and systems were required. From here a plan could then be put in place for closing any 'gaps' thus ensuring that the quality and quantity of data, and suitability of current systems, were deemed sufficient for achieving the legislative aims.
The Result
The audit was carried out to provide a basis from which to draw suitable solutions to progress the legislative changes and work toward ensuring success.
