Intelliscan and Metoc join forces to provide a wider service offering

Intelliscan, specialists in software development for geographic information systems (GIS) and Metoc, providers of project management and consultancy services to many leading companies round the world, jointly announced that they have entered into a collaboration agreement. The agreement will primarily allow Intelliscan to distribute the vectorised Admiralty data produced by Metoc, but also permits cross promoting and distribution of their other respective products and services.

The addition of the Metoc vectorised chart data strengthens Intelliscan's portfolio and complements their existing position as official distributors for the UK Hydrographic Office's marine ARCS (Admiralty Raster Chart Service) data. The vectorised charts, like their raster equivalent, have worldwide georeferenced coverage. The charts provide all the benefits expected of vector data such as containing fully attributed objects, which can be interrogated to identify more specific information, and a layered control where only necessary 'layers' of information required are displayed.

A near-seamless view and unlimited zoom with no loss of quality can be enjoyed too. The charts are fast to load, easy to use and compatible with most popular desktop GIS products such as Mapinfo, ESRI and Geomedia.

A picture speaks a thousand words and utilising data in this way often reveals patterns, relationships and trends that are not readily apparent in databases, spreadsheets or statistical packages. The increased efficiency in planning, management and maintenance of assets reaps greater return on investment through reduced implementation and operational costs.

The agreement will also allow Metoc and Intelliscan to promote and distribute each others range of products and services enabling a wider offering to their current customer base whilst opening new cross-marketing opportunities for both companies.
