Software business Intelliscan, which specialises
in geographic information systems (GIS) now has 250 major
clients in 20 countries.
The firm, which was founded in 1994 and has
been based at Bridge of Don for three years, provides computer-technology
expertise for large companies that need to manage assets outwith
their offices. Many organisations involved in offshore work
- from oil and oil service companies to dredging firms - plan
and report activities through GIS systems.
Intelliscan marketing manager Charlotte Ross
said: "The firm has been steadily expanding over recent
years, and had outgrown its existing premises. "With
staff coming from as far afield as Fraserburgh and Elgin as
well as Aberdeen, Oldmeldrum was seen as an ideal central
location.
"With many of our clients regularly flying to and from
Aberdeen, the new offices are within easy access and ideal
for our operations.
"I am very pleased to see the village's
industrial estate really starting to sparkle," said Meldrum
councillor John Loveday. The completion of the new business
centre was part of a council blueprint to see an integrated
expansion of Oldmeldrum, he said. "Intelliscan was a
cornerstone to the business centre development. "Without
them it might never have got off the ground. "Their initial
interest provided a real kick-start for the site. "Now
at least another three expanding local firms are set to move
in shortly and I anticipate most of the units will be allocated
within the next few months."
