Q. I have installed the ARCS for GIS Viewer
Program, how do I see the charts?
A. Charts cannot be viewed directly from the CD, they must
be installed onto your system using the ARCS for GIS Maintenance
Program.
Q. When using ARCS for GIS, I get a message warning me that
no hardware key could be found, but the hardware key is in
the back of my computer.
A. You may need to run the Install HASP option in the Intelliscan
Program Group. Check also that the PC parallel port is enabled.
Q. When using ARCS for GIS, I get a message warning me that
no hardware key could be found. The hardware key is on the
network.
A. On the PC running ARCS for GIS you may need to run the
Install HASP option in the Intelliscan Program Group. Or,
The HASP Licence Manager is not running on the machine with
the network hardware key. Or, the maximum number of concurrent
users has been reached.
Q. I am running the ARCS for GIS Viewer Program
as a different user or on a different machine to the ARCS
for GIS Maintenance Program. The Arcs Picker dialog is empty,
even though I have installed charts using the ARCS for GIS
Maintenance Program.
A. Verify that your ARCS Path is set. You can find out what
the ARCS Path is set to via the Options/Set ARCS Path... menu
item in the ARCS for GIS Maintenance Program or via the ARCS/Set
ARCS Path
menu item in the ARCS for GIS Viewer Program.
Q. I have not installed any updates for some time, do I have
to install all the Update CDs to be up-to-date?
A. No. Updates are cumulative. By installing updates from
the latest Update CD you will be completely up-to-date.
Q. Some of the graticules drawn on the charts do not appear
to be in the correct position, but instead appear slightly
off.
A. The datum the chart was drawn in may not be WGS84, but
instead a datum more appropriate to the local area may have
been used. By adding a small shift, most charts can be very
closely approximated to the WGS84 datum. This is done whenever
possible, using data supplied with the ARCS chart, in an attempt
to display all charts using the same datum (WGS84). The important
point is that the areas of land and sea are in the correct
place; it is only the graticule lines that are "wrong".
Q. Can I use ARCS for GIS with more than one
GIS package on the same PC?
A. Yes. As part of the improvements from previous versions,
ARCS for GIS can now be run with different GIS systems on
the same PC.
