These instructions apply to Intelliscan customers using ARCS for GIS version 1.7 and subscribing to the Navigator weekly update service.

Place the most recent Update CD in the CD-ROM drive.

From within the ARCS for GIS Maintenance Program, select the Install Update Data option from the Install Data Menu. Providing the most recent Update CD has been inserted in the CD-ROM drive, and all previous chosen updates have been installed successfully, the Install Update Data dialog will appear as shown:

Installed Chart Data lists those charts already installed on your PC. Available Updates lists those charts for which there are uninstalled updates available. Note - If the Install Update Dialog does not appear upon selecting the Install Update Data option, a warning message will appear indicating one of the following two reasons:

The Update CD is not the most recent one and the information contained on it is older than that already installed on your PC
An Update CD has not been inserted in the CD-ROM drive Refer to your User Manual for instructions.

Install the update data from the Update CD, choosing one of the two options below: To install selected updates only – use the left-hand mouse button to highlight those charts within the Available Updates box for which you want to apply updates, and then click the Install button. You can select multiple charts by holding down the CTRL or SHIFT keys in conjunction with the left-hand mouse button. To install all updates – click the Install All button.

The progress of the installation will be shown in the ARCS for GIS Maintenance window in the main application. Two types of progress indicator are used:

Information (e.g. update installed)

Error (e.g. Disk full).

Note - Where the installation of an update generates an error status, update data for that chart will not be installed and the appropriate remedial action must be carried out before the Install Update CD procedure can be completed successfully (see ‘Possible Error Messages’ on page 3 of the manual for the appropriate remedial action).

Charts for which updates have been applied successfully will be removed from the Available Updates box at the bottom of the Install Update Data dialog.

The weekly Update CD has now been installed.
